Bear with me, I'm pregnant

I don't know if its just me but I guess most pregnant women can be extremely sensitive. Or maybe some people are just really insensitive or innocent.

Here are some things I hate hearing from people:

"Your tummy is so big but you're payat!" Every woman and pregnancy is different. Of course my tummy is big, I'm carrying three. I should worry if it's small and not all expectant moms should gain gazilion pounds. It can get a little annoying to hear people say I'm payat or should I be flattered? As per Dr. A. the baby should be the one growing big and NOT the mommy. I believe him.  Being big doesn't mean the baby is in good health. Every pregnant woman I know is only concerned about one thing --- delivering a healthy baby. When people around me say I'm payat, I feel like they assume I'm not eating. I eat well A LOT! And my babies are fine.

"Triplets? Hindi ba delikado yan?" Grrr. Can they just shut up if they don't have anything good to say? Or maybe they're just too naive to understand things? I know some of them are sincere and mean well. Some just don't know what to say. I can't help it, but this line makes me freak out.

"Eat well, you are eating for 4 now." I eat well but I don't believe in eating for 4. Should I force myself to eat even if I'm full already? Note: I'm eating like 4-5 times a day instead of 3 full meals. I get hungry most of the time.

"Wow triplets, swerte yan! (while rubbing my tummy)" Phuleeeeez, I'm not a po-on! You don't need to rub my tummy, hope to be lucky and prayers to be answered. That's insane! Few people are only allowed to touch my belly --- my husband, my family, close friends and my doctor.

Hormones or whatever, bear with me. This too shall pass.

Week 21

I feel there's an increase of oil production in my body. I'm having zits on my forehead and my hair is extra oily. Ugh! Since I cannot visit my derma and salon for treatments (shocks, I can't wait to have my hair styled and colored...) I have to resort to solutions that won't harm my little ones.

To start off...

I clean my face using Cetaphil (morning) /or Shu Uemura foaming cleansing water (at night). When I'm wearing mineral make up (I'm a Colorescience fan), I use Shu Uemura cleansing oil to wash my face. I exfoliate twice a week using my new love and discovery:

Cure Natural Aqua Gel
Learn more about Cure here. I so love this product! Xave is also a fan! *beams*

Most importantly, I moisturize moisturize moisturize!

Remember mommies, there's no excuse to be fugly when pregnant okay? *wink*  Since I'm a bit oily these days, I only apply oil-free moisturizer to some dry parts of my face (cheeks) skipping my T-zone until my skin goes back to normal. I use Clinique Dramatically Different Lotion GEL. I'm not hiyang on the lotion version.

My hair is low maintenance. I only use and hiyang to Pantene (Hair Fall) shampoo and conditioner. I read somewhere that once or twice a week, we need to remove residue caused by shampoos, conditioners and styling products from our hair (just like exfoliating our skin) by using an anti-residue shampoo then go back to your favorite shampoo.  Neutrogena has this anti-residue shampoo that I have yet to try.
Been searching for it locally but no luck. I guess I need to find time to check on some PX stores nearby.

So there you go. Instead of feeling depressed due to some physical (and emotional) changes happening in us caused by pregnancy hormones, not to mention the stress in completing all medical tests and worrying about the results,  be happy and feel beautiful. *smiles*  Find time to relax and enjoy 'pamper me time', indulge and be positive. You'll be surprised with the outcome. *wink*

The Bones Pliage

I like colors, I love anything pink and I want this!

The "Bones" Pliage by Jeremy Scott. Inspired by Scott's Spring/Summer 2010 ready-to-wear collection shown at London Fashion Week last September.

I love the tiny white bones playfully poking in and out of the bubblegum-pink cotton canvas. Looks like Flinstones!

It's limited edition. Not sure if this will be available in Philippines so I better bug some friends to buy this for me! *crossed fingers* This would be a nice diaper bag for my girls. *hehe*

Missing Bee...

It's official, I'm having separation anxiety. I feel I'm beginning to be overly dependent on DH. I want to see him and be with him everyday, every hour, every minute. I don't want him to be out of my sight! *hehe* Last night, I felt I was a cast from a telenovela. Imagine this:

1. In the car leaving for Manila
2. Goodbye kiss to DH
3. Tears falling down my cheeks, sobbing
4. Windows up, lights off so nobody will see me doing #3.
5. Mobile phone in silent mode (just one SMS from DH will surely make me lose my composure)
6. Pretended to be sleeping while weeping.

Blame it to my pregnancy hormones.

Seriously, I miss Xave very much. *sad* I can really feel that he's not around because the house is sooo quiet. Nobody is singing in the shower. I can use the computer 24/7. Nobody is hugging me to sleep, etc.

Sigh...

Daddy felt babies' kicks for the first time!

I'm going 21 weeks and getting bigger and bigger each day. I'm having more difficulties moving (getting out of bed and changing positions) and walking (malling). Getting in and out of the car needs greater effort. I get tired easily and feels like I'm always catching up my breath. The good side, my back pains were lessened. Thanks to the tummy belt and sleep bra. To other expectant mothers out there, invest in a good sleep bra it helps to have a good good night sleep! *smiles*

Remember the Giordano classic round necks shirts in different colors that were so famous before (highschool days)? Those are my pambahay/pantulog the thinner the better! *haha* Now, they don't fit me anymore. Hanging na kase eh! *haha*  I'm using DH's shirts as my night shirts and some of his boxers shorts instead.

I can feel my babies dancing (in me) more frequently. Many times, DH has been trying to feel my tummy for kicks but babies tend to be shy and I tell DH baka ayaw nila sa kanya and he'll give me a sad face. *hehe* Tonight, (night before he leaves for Bataan) he felt the kick for the first time! He was speechless, stunned and teary eyed...then he planted 3 kisses on my tummy. I know he'll be a good Dad to our babies. *smiles*

OMG-OMG-OMG!

I just felt my babies move! I know it's OA but my eyes are watery as I write this...

I'm sitting on our bed, my back on our head board while infront of laptop (laptop on my lap) I suddenly felt kicks of my babies and looked down...saw my tummy moving, waving...

Amazing!

Zzz...zzz...zzz...

For many weeks now as my pregnancy progresses, it's been difficult for me to sleep through the night obviously due to some changes taking place in my body:

1. My tummy is really getting bigger and heavier. I toss and turn all night trying to find a comfortable sleeping position. I'm used to sleeping on my left even before I got pregnant but I usually change positions through out my sleep. Now, it's easier said than done... Changing positions is starting to be a challenge already and it bothers me very much if I can't immediately go back to sleep after every change in position. Argh! Can you imagine the feeling of not having enough sleep or not sleep at all?...While your Hubby is in deep slumber? *fuming mad*

2. Getting out of bed is harder than ever!!! I feel like a lola with arthritis...*haha* Imagine my struggle everytime I had to go to the bathroom specially at night while Hubby is having a good night sleep (again)?...*grin*

3. Twice a week I experience leg cramps in the middle of my sleep. I had to wake up Hubby  just to straighten my leg and flex my toes...(note: with his eyes closed pa din!)

4.  Since I got pregnant, I started to get stuffy nose which makes it difficult for me to breathe without much effort. I had to blow and clean my nose morning (after waking up), afternoon, evening (before going to bed) and sometimes even at the wee hours of the morning. Waaa!

Sometimes even when I'm puyat and exhausted I just can't have a long good night sleep...Is this some sort of preparation to the arrival of the babies? I think I need to get a better heavy duty eye cream instead. *LOL*

I'm going 20 weeks in 2 days and here's how the baby looks like: (looks like the baby in my baby counter)
Source: Babycenter.com

I couldn't believe I'm already halfway through my pregnancy, how time flies! Hmm, I deserve a gift, prize, shopping! *hehe* I've been busy organizing my checklist and I still have a lot to tick! *haha* The major baby stuffs have been decided already its a matter of buying. I couldn't believe that we'll be needing 3 cribs, 3 strollers and tons of feeding bottles at one time! *slaps forehead* It's like building a daycare center. *LOL* Feels like the Daycare Nightmare game on my iPhone! *haha*

That's all for now...*smiles*

What is SIDS?

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is a medical term that describes the sudden death of an infant which remains unexplained after all known and possible causes have been carefully ruled out through autopsy, etc. SIDS is responsible for more deaths than any other cause in childhood for babies 1 month to 1 year of age. It strikes families of all races, ethnic and socioeconomic origins without warning. Most SIDS victims appear healthy prior to death.

So for safety and to prevent SIDS a lot of websites suggest using baby sleepers instead of blankets to prevent suffocation, etc.

Aren't they cute?

Most online sellers are selling SwaddleMe at 800 to 1200 pesos each (pricey!) so Amazon is the way to go...*smiles* The more you buy, the more discount you get...

BBB : Big Baby Bump!

I was laughing and in panic when I told Hubby I couldn't see my feet anymore when standing up. He just smiled maybe for me not to feel bad. *haha*

I'm serious.
this is how my tummy looks when standing up...(yes, I'm getting bigger and heavier!)

I had to lean forward to see my feet. (can't sleep w/o socks...hehe)

That line you see is called Linea Nigra (Latin for "black line") which is a dark vertical line that appears on the abdomen during pregnancies however, some are lucky not to have it. It is a type of hyper pigmentation resulting from increased production of the pigment melanin thought to be caused by increased estrogen (the same process that causes the areolas to darken).

Linea Nigra tends to appear around the 2nd trimester. After birth, the line fades slowly, but may never disappear entirely (oh no!!!), and sun exposure may cause it to recur. (oh no no no!)

Poll #1 results

Voting is officially closed.

Thanks to all who joined the poll. I enjoyed reading your comments, emails, messages in Facebook and SMS. Everybody had fun, right? *smiles*

Most of you got it right, we are having 2 girls and a boy! *beams* We couldn't be more excited! We also had our Congenital Anomaly Scan (CAS) yesterday and results came in okay (Thank God!) we're praying that our babies to continue their progress until I give birth and of course grow up...

The fun begins --- finding names for the babies, (hubby's assignment) shopping for baby stuffs times 3 lahat... (read: start of bankruptcy! LOL) preparing babies' nursery room, the works! I have already prepared a 'never-ending' list of things to do hoping to organize ASAP so I won't be swamped with too many things to worry. I don't wanna be stressed/ugly! *evil laugh*

Morning Sickness Solutions

Here are some ways to combat morning sickness which worked for me:
  • Eliminate fried or highly seasoned foods
  • Go with many mini-meals (5-6 meals) instead of 3 big square meals a day
  • Eat sorbets (buko, popsicles in orange flavor), ice cream, or milk shakes (any cold and sweet makes me feel good even during pre-pregnancy) *hehe*
  • Even when I don't feel like eating, I sometimes force myself to eat. An empty stomach can make me even for queasy than one partially filled
  • Steer clear of smells that can trigger occasions of nausea (scent of anything fried, flowery perfumes, car fresheners, Safeguard soap to name a few)
Morning sickness is one thing I hate about pregnancy. It's an extreme struggle, feels like waking up with a hangover everyday! Apart from the things I enumerated above, having a supportive hubby beside you while going through morning sickness and pregnancy of course is such a big help specially that our hormones are acting up so wildly.

For my fellow expectant moms, don't you wish for your hubby to experience even a bit of morning sickness? I do. *evil laugh*

Morning Sickness

I've experienced this on my 8th week of pregnancy and lasted until my 12th week but for some reason, I failed to blog about it. I hope this is not too late. *wink*

Based from what I've read, morning sickness is one of the very first signals of pregnancy and affects about 50% of all pregnant women. It doesn't just occur in the morning, either. An upset stomach and outright vomiting can happen at any particular time of day, making us all wonder why it isn't called all-day sickness.

No one knows exactly why some women feel sick while others appear to bounce through the day eating everything in sight. My doctor said the cause of morning sickness may likely be the level of HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) or the pregnancy hormone in the blood. HCG rises a few days after a missed period which is when morning sickness usually starts. Continuously secreted by the brain and the placenta, HCG peaks at about 8 weeks and dramatically falls at about 12 weeks (just like mine) when a woman who has been sick and vomiting for months suddenly awakens with barely a discomfort. However, the 12-week limit doesn't always hold true for everyone. I was still lucky to have it ended on the 12th week because it was an extreme struggle for me. Had mine during evenings only but still it was something I don't wanna go through again in this lifetime! *LOL*

I've also read somewhere that there's a theory that a woman will more likely to be nauseous if the fertilized ovum came from the right ovary. There's an important ovarian vein that carries hormones from the ovary directly to our liver on the right side. The theory is that having our unborn baby originate on this right side brings on a kind of hormonal overload, delivering an extra wallop to our liver and making us sick. Women whose eggs had been released from the left side were less likely to have nausea.

Whatever theory, morning sickness appears to be triggered by the smell of certain foods, odors, or the smoke of a lit cigar. It usually is worse for first-time moms-to-be.

Poll #1 : Gender of our Babies

My dear SIL, Kreci gave me a good suggestion that I put a poll on my blog for people to guess gender of our little ones. It was a nice idea actually so I gave it a go! *beams* Just don't know how many people are following this page since it merely talks about my pregnancy which is not that fascinating to most specially to single ones. But let's see... *smiles*

If it's not too much to ask, I would appreciate if you leave a comment (click comment button in RED on the upper right part of this entry) and identify yourself so I'd know who among my friends voted. *wink* Guests/visitors are very much welcome! *smiles*

What do you think is the gender of our triplets?
